These terms apply to CBT provided online or by telephone to clients aged 16 and over who are located in the United Kingdom. The individual therapy agreement shared before treatment will record any additional arrangements agreed with you.
1. Scope and suitability
Sessions provide individual Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in English. A consultation and assessment help determine whether this service can safely meet your needs. Calm Breathing Therapies is not an emergency or crisis service and may be unsuitable where immediate risk, active psychosis, severe substance dependence or another need requires urgent or multidisciplinary support.
For clients aged 16–17, consent, confidentiality and appropriate safeguarding or parent/carer involvement will be discussed individually.
2. Sessions and technology
Sessions usually last 50–60 minutes and take place at mutually agreed times by secure video or telephone. You are responsible for joining from a private location with a suitable device, connection and telephone contact where possible. If technology fails, we will attempt to reconnect or agree a reasonable alternative.
3. Fees and payment
An individual session costs £60. A prepaid block of four sessions costs £220. Payment is made by bank transfer before each session or block unless another arrangement is agreed in writing. Fees may be reviewed; any change will be communicated before it applies to future sessions.
4. Cancellation and ending therapy
Please give at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or rearrange. Sessions cancelled with less notice may be charged in full unless exceptional circumstances are agreed. Prepaid sessions should normally be used within three months. Either of us may end therapy with reasonable notice. I may pause or end treatment if it is no longer appropriate or safe, fees remain unpaid or these terms are seriously breached.
5. Distance-contract rights
Where consumer cancellation rights apply to a service booked at a distance, you normally have 14 days to cancel. If you ask for therapy to begin during that period, you may be charged proportionately for a session already provided. Any applicable right to cancel is explained before treatment begins.
6. Confidentiality, records and risk
Therapy is confidential, subject to legal duties and safety exceptions. Where there is a serious concern about harm, safeguarding or another legal requirement, relevant information may be shared with a GP, emergency contact, safeguarding service or emergency service. Clinical records are maintained and retained as described in the privacy notice and retention schedule.
7. Complaints and professional standards
Concerns are welcomed and should be raised as soon as possible. The complaints policy explains the process and how to contact BABCP if a concern remains unresolved. Professional work is guided by BABCP standards of conduct, performance and ethics.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under applicable consumer law.
